The NSLS News
Letter from the President
Dear NSLS Member,
I hope you’re having a positive final stretch of the spring semester and looking forward to a beautiful summer. This month, I wanted to take a moment to share with you some exciting news from the National Office.
As you know, each year the NSLS’s network of leaders grows, as more chapters are founded and more members join. This past semester was particularly exciting, as we passed a significant membership milestone--1,000,000 members! The lucky millionth member was Gabrielle Murad from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas!
Gabrielle joined NSLS in February and has already completed her steps to induction. The UNLV chapter held its induction this past weekend, where Gabrielle was recognized as the millionth member and presented with a scholarship check from the National Office.
“NSLS has provided me with so many great opportunities and has really pushed me to achieve my goals,” Gabrielle told us following induction. “With the amazing support that the NSLS team has provided and all of its members, I am truly 10 steps closer towards my lifelong goals. I am honored to be part of such a rewarding and supporting community.”
Congratulations to Gabrielle and each and every one of our members. Thank you for all you’ve done to help us reach this milestone and become leaders who make a better world. I look forward to celebrating our future milestones with you as well!

Adrian College Chapter Recognized at "State of the College" Address
Adrian College Chapter Advisor and Director of Institutional Research & Assessment Beth Heiss recently had the opportunity to speak at the college’s “State of the College” address about the chapter’s accomplishments this past fall. Nearly 150 students joined in Adrian’s first semester, and the chapter inducted 106 members at its first induction ceremony. The chapter now has 280 members with an induction rate of 77% and has quickly become the largest organization on the campus of 1,800 students.
Freshman Ryan Boyd, an inducted member and new executive board member, also had the opportunity to speak. “We expect that those who participate in NSLS will gain a tremendous amount of knowledge and experience that they will take with them after graduation,” Ryan said. “We look forward to expanding our community service and starting a mentorship program with incoming freshmen.”

Penn State Harrisburg Chapter Teams Up with SGA
The NSLS chapter at Penn State Harrisburg recently teamed up with the university’s SGA for a 5K charity run: “It’s Bigger Than You: The 5K -- A Run for a Purpose” on April 7. More than 100 runners registered for the race, which allowed the SGA to raise enough funds to sponsor 5,000 meals for Penn State Harrisburg’s WE cARE food pantry and No Kid Hungry.
As part of the event, the NSLS chapter awarded $500 scholarships to PSU Harrisburg student Amany Mansor and local high school student Natchaya Srisai for their demonstrated commitment to leadership and service.
