Hi NSLS family,
I hope you’re enjoying the semester so far and having your fill of delicious pumpkin-spiced everything. October kicks off the season of giving and around this time, many charities and NSLS chapters ramp up their efforts to help those in need.
This month also marks the start of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (NBCAM). For NSLS members, this provides an excellent opportunity to utilize their servant leadership skills, get involved, donate, and share important health information that can make a difference in the lives of those affected by breast cancer. We don't have to go through something directly to empathize with others who are facing adversity.
As such, one of the leadership styles we like to highlight is Servant Leadership. It’s a philosophy of compassion grounded in the belief that we are all responsible for each other's well-being.
Here are some ways you can embrace Servant Leadership and support NBCAM:
Raise money and/or donate to breast cancer charities
Help a cancer patient pay for a treatment
Lobby for more comprehensive cancer patient care
Offer free or inexpensive services to those impacted by cancer
Show solidarity by wearing a pink breast cancer awareness ribbon
