It's important to note that most chapters nominate less than 5 percent of the student population, making your nomination a truly special and exclusive recognition.
While receiving an invitation is an achievement in and of itself, it's just the beginning of your journey with the NSLS. To fully realize the benefits of membership and achieve induction into our society, you'll need to complete our comprehensive leadership program requirements.

NSLS membership requires a one-time $95 fee at enrollment and grants you access to a host of pre-inducted member benefits. One of the key perks is our Foundations of Leadership program, a tailor-made course that hones the skills crucial for success in the present and the future.
There are no additional costs to membership, and membership does not expire, providing you lifetime access to the Members Area.
If you want to elevate your experience, you can take your leadership development to the next level by purchasing Advanced & Executive Leadership programs. These programs are completely optional but build upon the Foundations of Leadership program that is included with your membership.

If you are seeking a deadline extension to join The National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS), it is advised to directly contact your chapter leaders to request this accommodation. Chapter leaders hold the authority to grant deadline extensions and can provide the necessary assistance.
Contact information for your chapter leaders is readily available in two locations: inside your invitation letter, typically toward the bottom of the right-hand page, and at the bottom of the initial email received from the NSLS. By reaching out to your chapter leaders, you can discuss your specific needs and circumstances, ensuring you have adequate time to complete the enrollment process.
If you did not receive an invitation to join the National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS), you can still apply for membership through a self-nomination process. This opportunity allows potential members to showcase their leadership potential and join the NSLS community, even without a direct invitation.
Self-Nomination Process
To begin the self-nomination process, follow these steps:
Submit a Nomination Request: Complete the online nomination application form. You will need to request a nomination from at least one faculty member, though it is advisable to ask up to three faculty members to ensure timely responses and avoid potential issues with emails being caught in spam filters.
Personalize Your Requests: Make each nomination request personal and clear, so the faculty members understand it is coming from you.
Monitor Your Application: Log back into the application portal within a few days to check the status of your nomination. Faculty members will receive an email from you requesting their nomination and asking for their reflections on your leadership potential.
Approval Process
Once a faculty member nominates you, your application and nomination are forwarded to your on-campus Chapter Advisor for further evaluation. If your Chapter Advisor approves your membership, you will receive an email notification with a nomination code. This code will allow you to join the NSLS and become a pre-inducted member. You will also receive log-in information to check the status of your application online.

Yes, you're still able to join the NSLS and can accept your current nomination. Depending on your circumstances, you will have one of two options:
If the school you are transferring to has an active NSLS chapter, we can simply transfer your membership to that new chapter.
If it does not have an active chapter, we can transfer your membership to our Online Chapter.

If your school does not have a chapter of the NSLS, there are two paths to join, tailored to different preferences and goals:
Students can join the vibrant online community by self-nominating for membership. This online program offers the flexibility to engage with a comprehensive leadership curriculum at one's own pace. To get started, students visit the nomination application page. They will then submit a nomination request to three faculty members who can vouch for their leadership potential.

In-Person Chapters
For in-person chapters, your Chapter Leaders will invite you to your Induction Ceremony, where you'll be awarded your Foundations of Leadership Certificate along with any additional items, including your plaque if purchased at registration.
Online Chapters
If you're part of an online chapter, rest assured that your Induction Kit will be carefully mailed to the home address in your member profile. Please allow up to 2 weeks for delivery. If you've completed all the requirements but haven't received your kit or tracking number, don't hesitate to let us know. If your chapter hosted an in-person ceremony, all you need to do is reach out to your Chapter Advisor or Student President to receive your membership kit. Please contact them within two weeks of the ceremony to ensure prompt delivery of your kit. To get in touch with them, simply log into the Members Area. You'll find their names at the top of the page, and you can click on them to send an email. They're here to help and will be more than happy to assist you with receiving your kit.
Alternatively, if you prefer to have your membership kit mailed to your home address, you can do so for a $10 shipping fee. Just contact our Member Experience team, and they'll process the fee for you.

A DISC assessment is a behavioral analysis tool that categorizes personality traits into four primary types: Dominance (D), Influence (I), Steadiness (S), and Conscientiousness (C).
This assessment is widely used for personal development, team building, and leadership training, including at the NSLS. It helps individuals understand their own and others' behaviors, communication styles, and working preferences.
If you’re already an NSLS member, you can start your DISC assessment in the Members Area.
To request a letter of recommendation, you must be a fully inducted member of the NSLS. Once you've completed the Steps to Induction, you can access the Letters of Recommendation feature in the Members Area. To navigate there, click the link above or:
Log in to the Members Area.
Navigate to the Credentials Hub located on the left-hand side of the menu.
Click on the 'Letter of Recommendation' option.
Choose the type of letter you need - whether it's for job searching, graduate school applications, or a general recommendation.
You can download a free digital copy instantly. If you prefer, the National Office can also send an original, hand-signed copy of the letter directly to the recipient via first-class US mail. This letter will be printed on high-quality paper and hand-embossed with the National Office's official seal. There is a nominal fee of $6.00 for this service.
Plaques are not just physical objects but a significant symbol that represents the hard work and dedication to personal and professional growth members have shown to complete the Steps to Induction. They are a testament to their journey with the NSLS and a reminder of the achievements they’ve made.
For in-person chapters, plaques are presented to inductees during their chapter's formal induction ceremony. This is a special moment to celebrate achievements with peers, mentors, and supporters. If you are part of an online chapter, your plaque will be carefully mailed to the home address on file. The NSLS team recognizes the significance of commemorating your journey, even in virtual spaces.
The Steps to Induction are as follows, which apply to both in-person and online chapters:
Orientation: the first meeting that occurs each semester and will give you access to all the information you need about the program in order to successfully complete the Steps to Induction as a pre-inducted member.
Leadership Training Day (LTD): a 2-hour interactive video training session with a workbook. This transformative seminar is designed to help you identify and overcome any obstacles that may hinder your goals. It's a unique opportunity to delve into your strengths and weaknesses and redirect your focus towards your true passions.
Three Speaker Broadcasts: watch some of the world's most successful celebrities, authors, business leaders, and motivational speakers discussing topics related to leadership, identifying goals, facing challenges, personal growth, and successfully transitioning from college to career.
Three Success Networking Team (SNT) Meetings: SNTs are more than just meetings. They're a platform that brings together groups of students who collaborate and provide peer coaching to achieve goals. You can openly discuss your goals, desires, and expectations, set timelines, and hold each other accountable for achieving what you want. SNTs offer a strong support network of goal-oriented students on campus.
Once you've completed these steps and achieved full induction, you'll receive an email containing your tracking number for your plaque. If you've fulfilled all the requirements but haven't received your tracking number, please let the NSLS team know, and they will assist you further. An NSLS Presidential Member is a distinguished level of membership within The National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS). To achieve Presidential Member status, members must fulfill specific criteria and demonstrate exceptional commitment to leadership development. Here’s how one can attain this prestigious status:

The Advanced and Executive programs are the next steps in your leadership development journey after completing the Foundations of Leadership (FOL) program. Both of these programs build upon the skills learned in FOL and help take those learnings into the real world with projects designed to make a positive impact in your local community.
The Advanced & Executive programs offer Certificate and Credit Recommended Pathways designed to help you further your leadership development. These courses are online and asynchronous with flexibility to fit your schedule.
The Certificate Pathway is the foundation for your leadership journey. These courses are carefully crafted to help you define your own unique brand of leadership. Learn the self-leadership skills needed to succeed in any situation and realize your potential along the way. At the conclusion of each certificate course, you’ll receive a certificate and digital badge.
Please note: The transferability of coursework completed at The National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS) is at the discretion of the receiving institution or educational institution. Members considering transferring NSLS coursework to any institution should not assume that the NSLS Credit Recommended Pathway, coursework, and/or Certificate Pathway will be accepted by the receiving institution.
The NSLS encourages members to seek pre-approval and/or consult the transfer center or registrar's office of the receiving institution prior to enrolling into NSLS programs.

To Begin: Navigate to your Chapter Calendar in the Members Area.
Scheduling: Orientation sessions are scheduled at the beginning of each semester. Once scheduled, they will be listed on your Chapter Calendar.
Attendance: Attend the scheduled orientation meeting at your campus. This session is usually conducted by your chapter advisor or leadership team.
Content: During Orientation, you will receive an overview of the NSLS, details about the benefits of membership, and an explanation of the Steps to Induction. You will also get a chance to ask questions and meet other pre-inducted members.
Materials: You may be provided with handouts, guides, and access to online resources that will help you throughout your induction process.
Credit: After the event, your Chapter Leaders will award you credit for completing Orientation and you will be ready to attend Leadership Training Day! Please allow 2-3 business days for your credit to be awarded.

Attendance: Watch the pre-recorded session. As a member of an Online Chapter, you are able to complete orientation at your convenience, but it is recommended to start as soon as you can. This will allow you to continue your Steps to Induction.
Content: The online orientation covers the same essential information as the in-person session. You will learn about the NSLS, membership benefits, and the Steps to Induction.
Materials: Digital copies of all necessary materials will be provided. Make sure to download and review these resources to help guide you through the induction process.
Credit: Once you complete Orientation by watching the video and answering the Orientation Questions, your submission will be reviewed by our National Office and you will be notified via email in your Members Area if you received credit within 24-48 business hours.

You must complete three SNT meetings with your group to become an inducted member.

The National Virtual Induction Ceremony is a special event hosted by The National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS) to recognize and celebrate the achievements of our members. Visit the Members Area:
Go to the Members Area and click the link for "Forgot Password" or click here.
Get One-Time Access:
Enter the email address you used at registration and click E-mail New Password. If you don’t know which email address you used at registration, you can reach out to our Member Experience team using the contact information below.
This original email address will also serve as your member ID.
Check your inbox for an email from The National Society of Leadership and Success titled "Replacement login information for (YOUR NAME) at National Society of Leadership and Success."
In the email, you'll find a link that you can follow or copy and paste into your browser. This link grants you one-time access to your Members Area.
If you don't receive the email, check your spam folder.

If you’re already a member, the second option is to log into the Members Area and review the information at the top of the dashboard. Here, you will find your chapter’s name, when it was founded, who your advisor and president is, and more.

Return Process:
Once the return is authorized, you will receive instructions on how to send the items back.
Shipping costs for returns may be the responsibility of the member unless the return is due to a defect or error on the part of the NSLS.
Exchange Process:
For exchanges, once the returned item is received and inspected, the replacement item will be shipped to you.
Members may be required to cover the cost of shipping for the exchanged item, depending on the circumstances of the exchange.
Refunds:

Inducted members may purchase and wear graduation regalia to symbolize their significant NSLS achievements. However, please note that graduation items are not refundable so you should confirm with your institution whether it is permitted to wear it at official ceremonies. If not, you are still welcome to take photos/videos wearing the regalia for personal sharing and to have as keepsakes of your accomplishment.
If you have yet to complete the Steps to Induction to become a fully inducted member, you can continue your progress by logging into the Members Area.

Your one-time member dues support the development of programming growth and content enhancement. They provide benefits to you and your chapter. These dues also cover the cost of induction kit items. However, please note that graduation regalia is not included in this fee. This allows each inducted member the flexibility to choose the regalia that best suits their preferences.
It's important to be aware that some campuses may have specific policies regarding the use of regalia at graduation ceremonies.

NSLS Membership Refund Policy: You may refund your NSLS membership within the first 30 days of accepting your nomination.
