The NSLS provides everything you need to build the leadership, career and life skills of students on your campus. Whether you’re looking to enhance your current leadership program or implement a new one, we provide the tools and resources you need to create lasting positive change in your students' lives and broader community.
We build on the traditional honor society model by providing colleges the opportunity to recognize their students for achievements beyond their GPA. In addition, the NSLS is the only accredited honor society and provides administrators with leadership development programming to measurably impact student development and engagement. Students also have the opportunity to take their learning with NSLS deeper and earn academic credit with our programs.
95% of our chapters continue with us every year.
By delivering engaging and interactive technology-based learning tools, students experience these outcomes after completing our program:
To complete NSLS’s leadership development program and achieve induction into the NSLS, students must complete our five steps to induction below.
Orientation is the first event on campus for new members. During orientation students get introduced to other members, learn the steps they need to take to complete the program and review the schedule of events for the semester.
On leadership training day, students attend an interactive video training session where they identify their goals and work on a plan of action to achieve them. During this session, they learn various leadership skills, recognize strengths and weaknesses and create a path for overcoming obstacles.
Students attend live streamed and pre-recorded speaker events where they get to interact with and learn from leaders, celebrities and best-selling authors. Hosted six times per year, topics include leadership fundamentals, identifying goals, facing challenges, personal growth and successfully transitioning from college to career.
Students meet bi-weekly in small groups to work together and set goals for future success. In these meetings, students discuss their goals and hold each other accountable by setting timelines and expectations. After each meeting, students submit a reflective journal entry online, providing advisors the opportunity to coach and mentor in a format which actively engages students.
In their final step towards induction, a formal induction ceremony may be held where students are presented with their Certificate of Leadership Training honoring their achievement and membership in the NSLS.
NSLS is the only honor society providing accredited leadership development programming.
