Nomination criteria is determined by local Chapter Leaders and is based on GPA and/or leadership potential. Students invited to their school's chapter have earned distinction with their nomination but must complete the leadership program requirements to become inducted.

Please contact the advisor of your student's chapter to discuss the criteria that was used to invite your student to join the NSLS. Their contact information can be found on the inside of your student's invitation, on the right hand side toward the bottom of the page.

Once the one-time membership fee is paid, students are considered a pre-inducted member with access to certain benefits. In order to become a fully inducted member, your student must complete the following steps:

  • Orientation: The first meeting that occurs each semester and will give students access to all the information they need about the program in order to successfully complete the Steps to Induction.

  • Leadership Training Day: A three-hour interactive video training session with a workbook designed to help students identify and overcome any obstacles that may interfere with obtaining their goals. This introspective seminar helps students recognize their strengths and weaknesses in order to shift their focus toward their real passions.

  • Three speaker broadcast events: Students watch some of the world's most successful motivational speakers discussing topics related to leadership, identifying goals, facing challenges, personal growth, and successfully transitioning from college to career.

  • Three Success Networking Team meetings: Bring together groups of students that work together and provide peer coaching on achieving goals. Students can discuss goals, desires and expectations, set timelines, and hold each other accountable for achieving what they want. The Success Networking Team provides members with a support network of other goal-oriented students on campus.

Once your student completes these steps, they will be invited to an induction ceremony where they will receive their membership kit.
